Position Overview The Senior Analyst, Field Inventory Planning, supports the connection between enterprise inventory planning and store-level execution. This role provides data analysis, reporting, and execution support to ensure inventory readiness across new stores, pilots, promotions, and market changes. This position partners closely with Merchandising, Replenishment, and Store Operations to identify risks, analyze trends, and improve in-stock performance. Key Responsibilities Inventory Performance Analysis Analyze in-stock rates, forecast accuracy, and sell-through trends across markets. Identify root causes of inventory imbalances and recommend corrective actions. Support pre- and post-new store opening inventory reviews. Reporting & Insights Collaborate with analytics teams to design and build necessary tools and dashboards; analyze to identify areas of opportunity and actions required. Provide weekly inventory insights to support field execution. Monitor high-visibility showcase or pilot locations and flag performance gaps. Promotional & Event Support Support inventory planning for store events and promotional activities. Analyze uplift performance and refine allocation assumptions. Market Monitoring Track competitor openings/closures and evaluate local demand shifts. Support inventory response plans for market-level changes. Core Competencies Strong analytical skills Decisive and creative problem-solving skills; ability to envision and implement sustainable solutions Advanced Excel proficiency, ability to interpret BI tools Foundational understanding of retail inventory & replenishment Clear written communication Attention to detail and execution discipline Strong ability to collaborate and build relationships Ability to work autonomously and independently Scope & Impact Individual contributor Supports Manager/Lead with analytics Direct impact on reporting accuracy and inventory responsiveness Limited executive exposure (primarily supports) Experience Requirements 3–5+ years of experience in retail inventory planning, replenishment, allocation, merchandising analytics, or store operations Experience supporting multi-store or omni retail environments preferred Demonstrated experience analyzing inventory KPIs (in-stock %, forecast accuracy, sell-through, weeks of supply) Experience supporting new store openings, promotions, or pilot initiatives preferred Exposure to inventory systems, ERP, or replenishment platforms Experience partnering cross-functionally in a matrixed organization Education Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, Analytics, Operations, or related field preferred, 5+ yrs experience within the disciplines required Advanced Excel proficiency required Experience with BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, Looker, etc.) preferred APICS/CPIM certification preferred but not required #LI-AT2 #CORP Petco Animal Supplies, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
